Palatine, IL is a village in the state of Illinois located about 30 miles northwest of Chicago’s loop’. As of the 2010 census 68,600 residents called Palatine home.

The first person to settle in the area of Palatine is thought to be George Ela, who built a log cabin in the area now called Deer Grove (the year is unknown). A road which passes through the western edge of Palatine is called Ela Road in his honor.  In 1866 the Village of Palatine was founded (built around a station on the new Chicago and North Western Railway).
